Addis Arduino Uno for the African market

Addis Arduino Uno is designed based on Arduino Uno open-source design

Addis Arduino Uno is relayed out by Ambasa Aklilu and Gobena Merga with the intention to eventually be used to teach students at Addis Abeba Science and Technology University (AASTU) and other institutes how to do PCB layout design using Addis Arduino design as a reference. It is also intended to eventually do the assembly of Addis Arduino Uno board in Ethiopia and make the board be available for students throughout Ethiopia. The fabrication of the bare boards is done at our fab house partners in Huicheng District, China. The first phase of the prototype assembly is also done at our partner assembly house in Shenzhen, China.

Addis PCB Design LLC has provided 5 fully assembled Addis Arduino Uno boards to Addis Abeba Science and Technology University (AASTU) and 2 fully assembled boards to Simbona Africa Healthcare R&D Founder Habtamu Abafoge.

Africa has the potential and the know how to design its own electronics hardware design by equipping and engaging the bright and talented students.   Gobena Merga

Addis Arduino Uno design is just one of the simplest designs that we are using to demonstrate how easy it is to do PCB layout design, PCB assembly, and PCB testing and troubleshooting.

• PCB layout design in Ethiopia by Ethiopian students. Then this same trend can be passed on to Eritrea, Kenya, Djibouti, and all the other neighboring countries and beyond.
• PCB assembly can be done in Ethiopia by Ethiopian technicians. This can also be used as an example to all the neighboring countries and beyond.
• PCB testing and troubleshooting can be done in Ethiopia by Ethiopians. Again this same trend can be passed on to all the neighboring countries and beyond.
